How to Qualify for a trophy and Bursary/Financial Award
To qualify for a trophy and bursary :
a student must enter at least three (3) single-performance classes, OR
a concert group class PLUS at least one (1) single-performance class
Calculating the bursary score:
The trophy and bursary score is calculated by averaging the two highest marks received for all pieces played; this includes each concert group class piece and/or single-performance class pieces. The student with the highest average score receives the trophy and bursary.
EXAMPLE: if a student has entered four (4) single-performance classes and the resultant marks are 89, 92, 93 and 87, the two highest marks being 92 and 93 are averaged, resulting in a trophy and bursary score of 92.5.
NOTE: no mark below 88 (Gold mark standard) will be considered for trophy and bursary.
Avoid administrative oversights! Enter at least three classes.
Please Read….
Many, many times in past years a student has played very well in the single-performance class they have entered and in many instances WON the class. They have also received high marks in a second single-performance class OR have often won that class as well. Unfortunately, the student did not enter a sufficient number of classes to qualify for a trophy and bursary. If you feel your student has an opportunity to win their class (and, they may win all of them) be sure to enter a sufficient number of classes in order to give them an opportunity to possibly win the trophy and bursary for their grade.
